violinist, bandmaster, choral conductor, 23.jun.1855 emigrated to the USA, 5.sep.1867 naturalized american, 1865-1896 with his Bach orchestra he founded and conducted Sunday afternoon concerts at Turn Hall in Milwaukee, for many years director at the Pabst Theatre, 1880-1900 conducted festivals and concerts in other cities of the USA and Germany, credited with having laid the foundation of Milwaukee's fame as a musical center ; 21.oct.1856 in Madison Wisconsin he married Maria Riemann (Germany, Bischhausen 21.apr.1835-27.jun.1907 Milwaukee) ; they had 9 children of which 3 did not survive childhood and 5 did not survive him
