orchestral/band conductor, composer of salon pieces, 27.jul/15.aug.1852 he conducted the Fransche Tuin Orchest at the Fransche Tuin in Amsterdam, 11/27.sep.1852 he conducted the military bands in a Groot Muziekaal Concours at the Fransche Tuin in Amsterdam, 1852 as youthful he succeeded Fritz Wenigmann as conductor of the orchestra Bach'sche Concert-Gesellschaft in Bonn, by 1853 he had already gained great fame Europe-wide with his Bach'sche Concert-Gesellschaft, he used to compose dedicated pieces on the spot everywhere he traveled with his own orchestra or for the guest orchestras, these were one-time pieces which further remained totally unknown, 17/25.sep.1853 he conducted his Bach'sche Concert-Gesellschaft at the Odeon in Amsterdam, 1860 he was for some time active in Warsaw Poland where he became friends with concert organizer J Succo, he seems to have not published any of his compositions himself, all publications were reductions for piano or arrangements done by others many years later, by 1852 he had composed 141 opusus while the first was published in 1856, his romance Fruhlingserwachen was a huge success and had hundreds of arrangements worldwide until far into the 20th century
