hornist, received the first lessons in horn from his father, 24.oct.1836 studied horn with Louis Francois Dauprat and composition with Fromental Halevy at the Conservatoire de Paris, 1839 2d prix horn, 1840 1er prix horn, 1841-1847 first horn at the Opera-Comique in Paris, 1.sep.1847 hornist at the Paris Opera, 1849 left the Opera and traveled to give concerts, 1849 he performed at the Societe des Concerts in Paris, 1853 he was in Italy, 1854 after the death of his father he returned to the Opera-Comique as horn solo, 1868 bandmaster of the 5e legion Garde nationale ; son of composer Paul Baneux ; 18.sep.1862 in Paris he married opera singer/professor of singing Irma Sophie Pannetrat (Algiers 24.mar.1833-6.jan.1892 Paris)
