1938 as professor of music residing in Paris Courbevoie, 1941 graduated from the Conservatoire National de Paris, with her husband she studied the local music of the Central African Republic and Senegal for several years, 1947 pere Charles Lecomte requested them to compose a mass on themes from the Central African Republic for the opening worship at Basilique Sainte-Anne du Congo in Leopoldville (Kinshasa), 14.may.1948 it was completed and 1.nov.1949 performed by a choir which was renamed chorale Les Piroguiers at the occasion ; daughter of composer Joseph Edouard Barat ; 27.jun.1938 in Brest she married ethnomusicologist/professor of music Herbert Pepper (1912-2001)
