pianist, toured Europe and appeared at the Woman's Philharmonic Club in New York, the New York State Teachers Convention and on radio, 1900-1929 residing at 323 Montrose Street and 151 Saratoga Avenue in Rochester New York where her husband was president of Rochester Theological Seminary, 1929 returned to Providence when her husband became president of Brown University, residing at 180 Hope Street and in 1946 at the Sheraton Hotel South Angell Street ; daughter of pharmacist Charles H Newell (Providence 1841-2.may.1896 Providence) and Isabella West (RI 1839-7.jun.1886 Providence) ; 28.jul.1891 she married reverend Dr. Clarence Augustus Barbour (Connecticut, Hartford 21.apr.1867-12.jan.1937 Providence)
