pianist, of african/french descent born as slave of piano dealer Adolphe Perier (France 1809-23.nov.1860 New Orleans), 1860 he became the property (worth $1000) of widow Charlotte Perier (France c1820-a1871), he continued working at the Perier music shops after he became a free man 19.jun.1865 and after the death of Charlotte, studied piano with Eugene Prevost, composition with C Predigam Auguste, 1867 played at the Paris International Exposition, 1871 he resided at 232 Royal Street, 1886-1893 he was piano tuner/repairer at 84 Royal Street and residing at 323 Bourbon Street, 1897 piano tuner/repairer at 406 Royal Street and residing at 618 Baracks Street ; son of Jean Bares and Augustine Celestine both immigrated from France 1838 and slaves of Adolphe Perier ; 27.oct.1877 after they had 2 children already, he married Leontine Araiza (1850-31.oct.1885 New Orleans), their daughter Lucie Marie (New Orleans 13.dec.1874-) was piano teacher in 1900, son Basil Eugene (New Orleans 15.nov.1876-) was piano tuner at 618 Baracks Street in 1897 and piano teacher in 1900, daughter Augustine (New Orleans 2.jul.1878-), daughter Ernestine (New Orleans mar.1883-)
