Barre, Anthony Louis 17.mar.1841-19?? France, Paris - ?, ?
13.jan.1859 he entered the Conservatoire de Paris where he studied harmony with Henri Reber, 1860 he was not rewarded a prize for harmony and left the Conservatoire, which is the reason why he is not registered by Constant Pierre 1900, he nevertheless gained a honorable mention at the concours by Societe de Sainte-Cecile in Bordeaux 1863 (Saint-Saens winning 1st prize), he seems to have quitted his musical career after 1875 but was still recorded in 1936 as deceased member composer of Societe des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique (SACEM) Paris which suggests that he had been active much longer ; ? brother of singer Mme Barre-Sabati
