oboist, conductor, studied music with his father in Conde-sur-Noireau, 1846 in Cherbourg he advertized with a free cours in wind instruments (offering instruments with 50% discount), 1849 professor of music in Cherbourg, 22.dec.1849 the company Grand Magasin d'Instrumens et de Musique 57 Rue de la Fontaine of Jose & Antonio Barriere and the company of Alexandre Jacquot music seller were combined into one named Magasin de Musique Alexandre Jacquot et compagnie 18 Rue de la Paix a Cherbourg, 29.aug.1851 on oboe with his brother and sister on piano he gave a concert at Salle de Spectacle in Cherbourg, 1866 he took over the direction of Societe Sainte-Cecile de Cherbourg from his brother, 11.apr.1868 winning 1st prize at Concours Orpheonique in Rouen, he died by drowning after a fatal fall into the docks near Place Napoleon ; son of Jean Pierre Barriere (bandmaster of the 5e Regiment de Grenadiers in Spain and 1831 professor of music in Conde-sur-Noireau and 1840 in Caen) and Marie Ferrer ; brother of composer Jose Barriere I and pianist Theresa Barriere ; father of composer Gaston Barriere
