the only good word the New York critics had to say about the production was the costuming, dancing and the chorus "Mr. Goodwin's book is simply atrocious, the lyrics must have been deviced on off days and the dialogue is fraught with horrors innumerable, the music boasts much that is old, some that is pretty and a lot that is exceedingly noisy, the contributors seem to have done far more of selecting than of composing"
