pianist, organist, studied piano with his father, theory with Leopold Engelke, he debuted aged 10 at Walnut Street Theatre Philadelphia, since 1870 teacher piano, toured with violinist Ole Bull, 1876 pianist for the Centennial Chorus, 1882 for the Philadelphia Festival Chorus, for 25 years with the Orpheus and Mendelssohn Clubs in Philadelphia, 1873-1917 organist of Girard College, editor/arranger for various music publishing houses in Philadelphia, 1918 for Theodore Presser Co.,  president of the Music Teachers' National Association, Pennsylvania State Music Teachers' Association, Philadelphia Music Teachers' Association, 1918 director of the Musical Art Club, 1918 residing at 1541 West 19th Street Philadelphia, in an effort to better his health he went to the seashore at Atlantic City ; son of composer Thomas a'Becket sr. and Sarah Collingbourne ; 29.apr.1869 in Philadelphia he married Mary Stansbury Chester (Ohio, Cleveland 21.mar.1840-8.jul.1906 Philadelphia)
