politician, military officer, silk-culture expert, amateur musician, 1782 his father sent him to Pamplona to be raised and educated, shortly after studied in Valencia, 18.jan.1892 appointed officer to the Ministry of Finance, 1808 in Granada he formed an army of 40000 which defeated the invaded french army of Dupont which was entirely taken prisoner of war, 1809 in Gerona the besieges of the fortifications San Juan Tower (8.jul.1809), Gironella Tower (19.sep.1809) and 19 others were equally succesfully broken, 1810 appointed intendant of the royal armies in Catalunya, June 1817 the Minister of Finance Garay sent him to Italy to inventory the state of trade, industry, agriculture (silk-culture), education, shipping, state laws etc., May 1820 appointed consul of Spain in the Netherlands seated in Amsterdam, 1825 after retirement he devoted himself to silk-culture and music, 1826 director of the silk plant and factory at chateau du Manoge in Meslin-l'Eveque near Ath Belgium, also educator and advisor of silk production in the Netherlands and Germany, studied music with tenor Manuel Garcia in Paris (probably after 1829) ; son of state council and financier caballero Pantaleon Beramendi y de Ibiricu (Pamplona 28.jul.1746-) and Cecilia Freire y Bruin (Alicante 8.mar.1750-) ; apr.1896 he married dona Maria de la Paz Galwey y Quilty of irish royal descent
