tubist, double bassist, bandmaster, although bandmaster for all his life he published no music for band, 1861-1864 studied at the Conservatory of Militairy Music in Berlin, 1861 musician and later bandmaster in the German Army, 1871 bandmaster in the 2nd Life Guards, 1872 he was selected to form and conduct a band in Honolulu arriving there 2.jun. 1872 and had formed a band within days which became His Hawaiian Majesty's Band which he led until his retirement 30.jun.1915, 1883 the band played at the Knight Templar's convention in San Francisco, 1905 at the Exposition in Portland Oregon, 14 years organist of the Kawaiahao Church, 1901-1929 organist of the Honolulu Elks Club
