film composer, lyricist, 1963-1964 studied composition with Vitorio Giannini and Vincent Persichetti at the Juilliard School in New York City, 1966 BA from the University of California Los Angeles where he received an Outstanding Graduate of the College Award, a Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship and a Chancellor's Doctoral Teaching Fellowship, 1966-1969 studied with Roy Harris, on the board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Society of Composers and Lyricists and the ASCAP Foundation, vice-president of the Academy of Motion Pictures Foundation, taught film scoring at the Thornton School of Music University of Southern California, 1997-2012 presented film scoring seminars at the University of California Los Angeles
