pianist, organist, conductor, music teacher, 1789 studied violin with C Ranitz in Amsterdam, studied music with the blind organist Daniel Brachthuyser, after the death of his father 1791 self-taught in music while working as private teacher music theory, singing, violin and piano, 1819 with Brachthuyser music teacher at the Instituut tot Onderwijs van Blinden, 1827-1852 teacher piano, singing and composition at the Koninklijke Muzijkschool in Amsterdam, among his pupils were Johannes Bernardus van Bree, Richard Hol and Jan Daniel Brachthuyser, 1842 decorated Ridder in de Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw for his work as teacher and promotor of music, 1845 he conducted the grand singing festival in Cleves Germany, although his music was highly praised and his genius compared to Mozart and Haydn, his music did not even survive his own lifetime, he was buried at the Nieuwe Kerk op de Dam ; 28.apr.1820 in Amsterdam he married Dorothea Christina Kathman (-6.jan.1853 Amsterdam)
