hymn and gospel compiler, grew up in Neversink Sullivan County, 1880 as musician and music teacher residing with his parents in Neversink, shortly after he moved to Williamsport, 1900-1910 as music composer/professor of music residing with his wife and a cook at 101 Market Street in Williamsport, music teacher at Pine Street United Methodist Episcopal Sunday School, musician at the Pine Street United Methodist Episcopal Church in Williamsport, 1920 as insurance agent residing with wife and servant at 338 Campbell Street in Williamsport, 1930 retired residing with his second wife at 325 Hepburn Street in Williamsport, mainly compiler and editor of hymnals, gospel books, books for Sunday schools, church services, prayer meetings, evangelistic services, revivals etc. published by the Methodist Book Concern New York and Cincinnati ; son of farmer Nathan Bevier Black (NY, Wawarsing 14.nov.1824-17.oct.1895 NY, Gaines) and Ann Augusta Depuy (NY, Fallsburg 23.apr.1831-) ; 17.may.1883 in Williamsport he married Elizabeth Updegraff (Williamsport 30.oct.1848-26.aug.1921 Williamsport) ; c1928 in Williamsport he married Lucy Love Levan (Williamsport 29.jul.1873-15.dec.1952 Williamsport)
