choral singer, teacher, attended high school in Salt Lake City and Portland Oregon, 1954 BA and 1955 MA from Brigham Young University in Provo Utah, 1956 MM and 1962 DM from the University of Illinois in Chicago, studied composition with Leon Dallin, Robert Palmer, Robert Kelly, Gordon Binkerd and Burrill Phillips, 1959-1972 received several Brigham Young University grants, 1957-1981 professor at Brigham Young University, 1958-1961 music critic and author of magazine articles, 1967 received the Karl G Maeser Creative Arts award, 1974 professor at the University of Indiana, 1984 director Barlow Endowment for Music Composition, 1984 resided in Salt Lake City, 1993 in Provo, 1996 in Saint George, 2000 in Bountiful Utah, buried at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery Provo ; son of engineer Melvin K Bradshaw (Lyman 15.dec.1907-17.aug.1994 Provo) and Mary Lorene Hamblin (Wyoming, Glencoe 18.oct.1910-1.dec.2001 Provo) ; 20.sep.1954 he married Janet Spilsbury (Provo 23.aug.1935-)
