pianist, organist, music teacher, studied music with professor George Schole and graduated from the Leipsic Conservatory in Berlin Germany, born at the home of his parents-in-law, 1900-1910 lived with his wife at the home of his parents-in-law at 402 Jefferson Street Wilmington, 1874 organist of Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, 1880 of St Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 1885 of St Paul's Catholic Church, 1899 of West Church, 1901-1917 again of Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, until 1903 he had been a much admired composer of Wilmington city wide renown only, 1903 after partnering with the Wilmington music publisher Charles T Edwards his compositions were published and became admired nation wide ; son of printer and occasional music publisher James Brown (Scotland 23.apr.1834-17.aug.1914 Wilmington) and Emily Virginia Siemers (Pennsylvania 7.mar.1836-11.aug.1912 Wilmington) ; 21.jun.1887 in Wilmington he married Mary E Burns (Wilmington 26.mar.1863-11.oct.1931 Pennsylvania, Uniontown)

Mr. Edwards complied with this request and the piece was received from the publisher just 2 hours before Brown's death. It was sung by Joseph Curran on the funeral service at St Peter's Cathedral
