Browne, John c1426-19.feb.1498 England Buckinghamshire, ? - London

the given information originates from Eitner and Grove 1954 and is still in circulation but because of the many John Browne's he cannot be identified with certainty :
Eitner: born c1426, 1445 aged 19 he was at King's College Cambridge
MGG1: c1442-c1445 king's scholar at Eton, another John Browne born 1453 from Coventry was elected King's scholar at Eton in 1467 aged 14
MGG2: elected at Eton 8.jul.1467 aged 13, still recorded at Eton in 1480 and most likely identifiable with the composer
MGG1: in the records of St George's in Windsor a Browne variously named John or William was installed as clerk on 1.may.1473 and died 6.jul.1476
Grove 1954: 1480-1490 rector of West Tilbury and canon of St Stephen in Westminster, he died 19.feb.1498
Grove 2002: f1480-f1505, little doubt he was the John Browne 1490 chaplain to John de Vere earl of Oxford
MGG2: a John Browne was organist at New College Oxford 1493

the most plausible identification, taken from MGG2 and Grove 2002 :
Browne, John c1454-f1505 England, ?Coventry / 1467-1480 Eton / 1490 Oxford - ?, ?
