1961 toured Latin America, discovered the bossa nova in Brazil and introduced it to the USA, 1973 moved to Annapolis, 1973 wrote a guitar method which
became widely used ; son of mechanic/farmer Newman Herbert Byrd (Suffolk Holy Neck 12.nov.1901-1.nov.1966 Virginia, Chincoteague) and Mary Lee Holland
(Suffolk 12.sep.1901-8.may.1996 Suffolk)
