born at rue du Chateau d'Eau in Dieppe, grew up in Rennes, studied hunting horn with Fernand Fortunel in Nantes, after completing his military service in Chartres he returned to Rennes to continue his regular job, 1931 employed as dessinateur in Chartres, 1925 hornist and 1931-1934 director of the hunting horn ensemble Rallye Saint Hubert de Chartres, 1936 director of the hunting horn ensemble Le Debuche de Paris, in his regular job he became engineering officer in Paris for SNCF national railway, remaining active as conductor and composer for hunting horn all his life ; son of mechanic Eugene Marie Chalmel (Rennes 28.jun.1872-) and Angele Charlotte Manent (Rennes 26.nov.1873-17.nov.1959 Tinteniac) ; 18.may.1931 in Rennes he married couturiere Denise Marie Eugenie Jan (of 9 rue des Ormeaux Rennes)
