soprano, teacher voice, piano and organ, as infant she moved with her parents to a ranch five miles east of Roswell, 1892-1900 musical education at the Texas Institute for the Blind in Austin, 1916-1921 studied music in New York City and Chicago, 1900-1910 residing as music teacher with her parents in Las Cruces, 1909 she sang every Sunday morning and evening at the Baptist Church in Las Cruces, 1910 she gave concerts at Armory Hall under the auspices of the Ladies of Maccabees, 1914 she was in charge of the music at the Baptist Church in Las Cruces, 23.jul.1915 she sang daily for one month at the Panama-California Exposition in San Diego, 1917-1918 The Williams Duo East Bowman St near Campbell House Las Cruces advertized with 'we carry a full line of Elizabeth Garrett's and Carrie Jacobs Bond's compositions', 1930 residing as vocal teacher in Roswell, 1937 she was granted a lifelong $50 monthly pension for her 'New Mexico' song by the state legislature, 1939 the Santa Fe 'New Mexico Magazine' bought 10 thousand copies of the song to include it in the June issue, 1939 she had an all-seeing eye dog named Teenc, 19.jun.1940 at Lincoln New Mexico she sang at the Coronado centennial celebration 'Billy the Kid lives again', 16.oct.1947 she was found unconscious after a fall in which she struck her head on a curb stone while her seeing eye dog Tinka was at her side, to this was added the fiction 'during a thunder storm her seeing eye dog guided her out of the house seeking safety' ; blind daughter of Apolinaria Gutierrez (NM San Miguel, Tecolote apr.1860-1936 Las Cruces) and Lincoln county sheriff Patrick Floyd Jarvis 'Pat' Garrett (Alabama, Chambers 5.jun.1850-29.feb.1908 shot in Las Cruces) who killed Billy the Kid
