violinist, choirmaster, studied violin with F Hellmann, composition with Anthon van der Horst and music history with Herman Rutters at Amsterdams Muzieklyceum, studied theory with Gustav Guldenstein and composition with Rudolf Moser at Basel Conservatory, music history with Karl Nef at Basel University, 1931 conductor of the Basler Kammerorchester and Kammerchor, 1933-1868 co-founder/teacher/conductor of Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, 1941 teacher of protestant church music at the theological faculty of the University of Basel, 1943 she published 'Solmisation und Kirchentonarten' which became an influential standard, on invitation of the Association of protestant church music she also provided courses in the Netherlands, 6.jun.1946 the first at the Begijnhofkapel in Haarlem, 1859-1961 conductor of Collegium Musicum Basel University
