pianist, banjoist, 1886-1900 he also used the pseudonym Aigrette, 1889-1922 he published over 400 pieces for piano and for banjo and piano, also many study and practice books for piano and for banjo, 1871 residing with his parents, 3 brothers and a servant at 201 Holyhead Road in Wednesbury Staffordshire, 1881 residing with his widowed father and a servant at The Cottage 35 Addison Street in Wednesbury, 1891 as musician with his wife lodging with music hall proprietor Henry C Huges in Portsmouth, 1901 as professor of music residing with his wife in Derby, 1911 both he and his wife as hotel pianists residing at 6 Church Hill in Shirebrook ; son of coach smith James Read (Willenhall 21.oct.1832-) and Mary Brevitt (Willenhall 5.aug.1832-) ; 1886 in Bristol he married pianist Beatrice Ida Bertha Hampden (Melksham Wiltshire 1867-16.oct.1912 at the County Asylum in Mickleover Derbyshire)
