pianist, organist, conductor, 20.sep.1858 the family emigrated to the USA New York, 1858-1860 boy soprano at Trinity Church New York, organist/choirmaster of Trinity Church Newport, Zion Church New York and Mt Calvary Church Baltimore, 1879 conducted opera in Havana and at the Academy of Music in New York, musical director of the Baptist Female Institute in Indianapolis and Wells College in Aurora NY, conductor of the old Vocal Society of New York, the Amicitia Orchestra and the Palestrina Choir, 1870-1872 as professor of music William J Robjohn residing with his parents at 865 8th Avenue New York, 1872 he took the pseudonym Caryl Florio which he used so consistently that even his death was registered under that name and made his parents untraceable, he worked as pianist, choral and opera conductor, translator, teacher, critic and music editor, 1880 residing at 272 East 10th Street and 1889 at 80 East 9th Street New York, 1896 he settled in Asheville North Carolina where he was in charge of the music at Biltmore Vanderbilts' estate and conductor of Asheville Choral Society, 1900 residing at National Green Building 37 Patton Avenue in Asheville, 1917 organist/choirmaster of All Souls Church in Biltmore NC, 1919 music teacher at 37 Patton Avenue, January 1920 he was patient at psychiatric sanatorium Appalachian Hall at South French Broad in Asheville, 23.mar.1920 until death he was patient at the insane asylum State Hospital of Morganton, but until death his address remained 37 Patton Avenue in Asheville, buried at Riverside Cemetery Asheville ; son of organ builder William Robjohn (Tavistock 14.feb.1803-29.apr.1878 New York City) and Harriett (England 1819-) ; he never married
