pianist, arranger, 16.nov.1843 a dutch Mr. Roeffs arrived at Dover England from the port of Ostend Belgium who was unlikely the 15 year old Benedict also because he cannot be found in the 1851 census, he apparently studied music in Brussels and Paris, 1861 as professor of music residing with his wife and the boarding music teacher Sarah Hincks (London Chelsea 1836-) in London Surrey Newington Walworth, the enumerator of the 7.apr.1861 census wrote his birthplace Deurne incorrectly as Borne Germany, the usually given date of death 17.nov.1872 is wrong because he does not appear in the 2.apr.1871 census while his widowed wife and his son Paul are living with her stepsister Margaret Fairbridge and son Henry Fairbridge (her future husband) ; son of gentleman (manufacturer) and organist Paulus Theodorus Hendrikus Roefs (Netherlands, Gemert 17.jun.1802-4.apr.1883 Deurne) and Henrica van de Mortel (Deurne 24.mar.1794-10.jun.1865 Deurne) ; 28.jul.1859 at St Pancras Parish Church London he married music teacher Hannah Hill (London St Pancras 20.mar.1833-26.dec.1913 St Leonards-on-Sea) ; son Paul Benedict (London 9.apr.1862-) ; 16.dec.1876 Hannah remarried the 15 year younger professor of mathematics Henry Fairbridge (Durham, Sunderland 1848-4.jun.1927 St Leonards-on-Sea)
