pianist, conductor, studied at Prague Conservatory, studied piano with Ignaz Moscheles in Leipzig, 1855 conductor in Krakow, then Warsaw, Lemberg (Lviv), Altenburg, Halle and Reval (Tallinn), 1862-1863 he was the last conductor of the old Rigaer Theater in der Konigsstrasse, then in Stettin, 1864-1871 conductor and director of the Deutschen Opera in Rotterdam Netherlands, then he was shortly in Italy, at the Coventgarden Theatre in London, the Stadttheater in Hamburg, 1875 he settled in Strasbourg Germany, April 1891 he was boarding at an Inn in London St Martin in the Fields and 26.oct.1891 traveled to the USA, 20.nov.1893 he traveled together with his son to the USA, 17.sep.1894, 10.oct.1896 and 29.apr.1897 he made more travels as theatre conductor to the USA ; father of composer Louis Victor Saar
