violinist, organist, studied with his father, Johannes Verhulst and at the Conservatories of Brussel and 1857 Leipzig, 1861 went to London as an orchestral player at the Adelphi Theatre, 1864-1865 organist of St Helen Bishopsgate, 1865-1867 of St Peter Stepney, 1867-1879 of the Swiss Church Holborn, 1872 became editor and 1878 musical adviser for Novello & Co., at time of death residing at 26 Rivercourt Road in Hammersmith ; grandson of organist/composer Jacob Tours (Rotterdam 5.jan.1760-12.aug.1811 Rotterdam) ; son of organist/composer Bartholomeus Tours (Rotterdam 10.aug.1797-12.mar.1864 Rotterdam) and Jeanne Hermine van Heel (Rotterdam 10.aug.1804-3.jul.1887 Rotterdam) ; 21.dec.1868 at Saint Matthew in London Bethnal Green he married Susan Elizabeth Taylor (London Hackney 5.dec.1847-21.dec.1929 London) ; son composer Frank Edward Tours (London Hammersmith 1.sep.1877-2.feb.1963 California, Santa Monica)
