organist, 1880 his family moved to Paris, 1893 received his first musical education from canon Henri Poivet at Petit Seminaire in Versailles, studied organ, fugue and counterpoint with his brother, 1899-1906 studied organ with Alexandre Guilmant at the Conservatoire National de Paris, 1903 2e accessit organ and fugue, 1904 2e prix organ, 1906 1er prix organ and improvisation, 1902-1914 organist of Notre-Dame-des-Champs in Paris, 1914 he was called for military service in WWI, 29.may.1918 he was killed in action as corporal of the 4th Regiment d'Infanterie in camp Montazin near Branscourt ; son of the journalist of 'Journal de Vienne' 'Memorial de Lille' 'Paris-Journal' 'Le Gaulois' and finally chef correcteur of 'Le Figaro' Henri Vierne (Liseux 1828-5.jun.1886 Paris) and Marie Josephine Gervaz (c1842-25.mar.1911), after the death of her husband housekeeper to Dr. Magnan in Paris Suresnes ; brother of composer Louis ; 9.sep.1902 in Paris he married Henriette Teyssedre
